ACC schedule out at 3 p.m.

By Ken Sugiura

The ACC schedule will be released at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Check back then for the schedule and commentary on the layout of Georgia Tech’s 2014 schedule.

Questions to be answered:

Will Georgia Tech-Virginia Tech be on Thursday night again? (I’m going to say yes.)

Will Tech’s requests – no Thursday night home games and an open date or away game around fall break – be honored? (After their requests were denied last year, my guess is yes, particularly the first.)

Will the open dates be advantageous? (Given that they’ll either be before an ACC game or the Georgia game, yes. The better question, I guess, is the degree.)

Does North Carolina get an open date prior to the Tech game? (I will be highly surprised if this happens.)

It looks about as good as we could ask for...

Ah I see Banning has nothing negative to say about our program on the subject of this article, so his ubiquitous rants are blissfully absent. Enjoy it while it lasts, my fellow bloggers :)

I like Thursday night games home or away---if scheduled around a bye, it spreads out 3 games over a 4 week period---at home, at least we get a night game vice the noon games we seem to predominately get especially in September so I hope we continue to get a Thursday night game each year---the next goal would be to start winning on national TV in those games---ah, we can always dream!

Concur with Ken, if UNC gets an open date before GT (again), then that defies all statistical probability of even the remotest hint of random/fair scheduling.  GT is due a favorable schedule this year---something without being frontloaded with conference games, 2 major conference games in a 5 day window, giving Clemson back-to-back home games (although that was our initiative), and an open date the second week of the schedule after a scrimmage game with Elon, etc.

Despite losing Sneezy and Thomas on D, Godhigh and experience on the O-line on the O, and of course the departure of "my bad" Vad---the rest looks promising.  Clemson, VT, and I think UM are reloading at QB and so is UGA.  Duke played over their heads---see if they can do it twice in a row.  If only CPJ and Vad could have "meshed" this year on running the offense---we'd be looking solid.  A well spaced schedule, sound performance from our QB, and some creative play calling and we might have reasonable hope for next year after all.

Jacketman......Are you drunk?

GT gets hosed by Swofford when it comes to the Schedule?

No ACC team plays a weaker schedule yr in & yr out than Tech.........No One!!

Any other ACC teams playing Wofford, Tulane and Georgia Southern?

Seems like Tech has already padded their schedule in an attempt to secure a winning season.

Ken, you should know by now that the ACC has done everything in their power to take care of the North Carolina teams and the teams they think might bring the Conference the most national "prestige," as well as screw GA Tech any way possible. Therefore, I fully expect North Carolina, Clemson, and FSU to get excellent schedules, with Duke and VA Tech to get very good schedules, the majority of other ACC teams to get good schedules, and Tech to, once again, get hosed.

The old adage, "Hope for the best but expect the worst" certainly applies any time the ACC releases their schedule for GA Tech. ;-)

That's not even close to true.

The OOC schedule is lighter than usual but yes. There are ACC and SEC teams that are as weak OOC. Welcome to modern day college football.

@GTBob  I am sure the Tech folks will feel good about themselves after the Wofford and Tulane games. However it will be interesting if Tech finds itself on the short end of the score against Georgia Southern in the 4th quarter and thoughts start creeping into the players' heads about losing and the perception of being the third best college football team in the State. Bet you will be able to cut the anxiety with a knife. Hop they have that one on tv.

Bobby......Are you losing sleep over what Richard Sherman is gonna do to your beloved BeyBey!!?

It's gonna be ugly. Crabtree was just the beginning!!

BeyBey may never recover from the humiliation Sherman is about to deliver IN FRONT of the WORLD, no less!!

Bob, what if we play Army or Navy in a bowl?

I have no idea why Florida imploded like they did but Ga Southern lost to Samford, Wofford, and Furman last year. On top of that they lost their coach. Yeah, I'm not worried. Sorry.

TheOldGuy

@GTBob Yeah, Florida wasn't worried either, and they have a better program than you.

TOG, maybe we can hire their coach on the spot, would mean yet another coach, besides Army & Navy, that can run cpj's O better than he can........75, maybe BeyBey can get the benefit of a Welker block........

You keep up with that wishful thinking if it makes you feel better. Personally I'm more worried about Tulane then I am Ga Southern. Not that I'm all that worried about either.

Sure you are.

This guy has a mouth that doesn't stop!!

BeyBey is now in his crosshairs.

I'm not the least bit concerned about it. If Thomas gets shut down then Peyton will throw it to someone else. Life goes on.
