Tech women’s basketball adds four to signing class

The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team added four players to its incoming freshman class, already rated in the top 20 in the country by three different publications.

Simina Avram, De’Ashia Jones, Antonia Peresson and Danica Piper have signed letters of intent with Tech, joining November signees Erin Gardner Zaire O’Neil and Imani Tilford.

Avram, Peresson and Piper played for their respective under-18 national teams in, respectively, Romania, Italy and Serbia. Avram is a 6-foot-3 center, Peresson a point guard ranked No. 15 at her position in her class by the Collegiate Girls Basketball report and Piper a small forward who was ranked No. 61 at her position by the same publication.

Jones is a 6-0 forward from Newark, N.J., who won three state championships in high school and is rated the No. 21 small forward in her class by ESPN.

In addition to losing seniors Tyaunna Marshall, Dawnn Maye, Shayla Bivins and Frida Fogdemark, three players are transferring, Kymberly Ellison, Donnaizha Fountain and Gabrielle Holston. Fountain has transferred to Temple.
