Schniederjans in contention for NCAA title

Comments 0

Hutchinson, Kansas – Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans is in a traffic jam with some of the best players in college golf. The top on the individual leaderboard after two rounds at the NCAA golf championships is a cluster of the best players in the game. Going into the third and final round Monday, leading at 6-under par is Stanford’s Cameron Wilson, ranked No. 4 in the country by Golfstat. In second at 5-under is his teammate Patrick Rodgers, ranked No. 1.

Schniederjans, ranked second, was in a six-way tie for third at 4-under Monday morning at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Six more players were a stroke back at 3-under. The pack also includes the Nos. 6 (Alabama’s Robby Shelton) and 14 (Virginia’s Denny McCarthy) players.

Schniederjans, who has set a Tech record this year by winning or sharing five individual titles this year, will try to become Tech’s second NCAA individual champion, following Troy Matteson in 2002.

Tech is scheduled to tee off at 12:30 CDT.
