With Duke’s 20-13 home win over Virginia Saturday, the Blue Devils took further control of the ACC Coastal Division.
As of Saturday afternoon, there were four teams with 2-1 records in the Coastal – Duke, Tech, Virginia and Pittsburgh. However, the Blue Devils, seeking their second Coastal title in a row, are the only team with control of their fate.
Duke now owns tiebreakers over Georgia Tech and Virginia. The Cavaliers were the last remaining team with an undefeated league record. Miami, which beat the Blue Devils, has two losses to one for Duke.
Pittsburgh has a loss to Virginia and needs another loss from the Cavaliers. Tech needs Duke to lose a second game to re-gain control, as does Virginia. The Blue Devils, who came off an open date before the Tech game, now goes into its second bye in the past three weeks. They’ll play at Pittsburgh in a division clash Nov. 1.
Duke can win by winning out. Remaining games: At Pittsburgh, at Syracuse, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Wake Forest.
Tech can win by winning out and one loss from Duke. Remaining games: At North Carolina, at Pittsburgh, Virginia at N.C. State, Clemson.
Pittsburgh can win by winning out and loss from Virginia: Tech, Duke, at North Carolina, Syracuse, at Miami.
Virginia can win by winning out and one loss from Duke: North Carolina, at Tech, at Florida State, Miami, at Virginia Tech.
