Georgia Tech placed two players on the All-ACC Academic football team for 2014, safety Isaiah Johnson and long snapper Tyler Stroebel.

They were among 65 players on the team. To be eligible, a player had to earn a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester with a 3.0 for his academic career.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in management in Dec. 2013 and received his master’s degree in building construction this past December. After sitting out the 2013 season recovering from a torn ACL, Johnson had 72 tackles this season and finished his Tech career with 283 tackles, the most ever by a Tech defensive back.

Stroebel, a business administration major, played all 14 games this season as the snapper for field goals and extra points.

Tech nominated four other players – defensive backs Lance and Lawrence Austin, defensive lineman Tyler Stargel and B-back Matt Connors. Players who met the academic criteria were also judged on contribution and playing time.
