He called Georgia Tech’s wild win over Georgia last November and the Yellow Jackets’ Orange Bowl win over Mississippi State. Tech play-by-play man Brandon Gaudin, with analyst Sean Bedford interjecting, provided another memorable call Saturday night, this time painting the picture as Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo lined up for what would have been a game-winning 56-yard field goal until Patrick Gamble blocked it and Lance Austin returned it 78 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
Gaudin’s call on the Tech radio network:
Gaudin: This’ll be his first attempt this year from over 50 yards. He’s three of three tonight, but those were all inside of 40. From the left hash. 56 yarder, just like last week against Pittsburgh. KICK IS BLOCKED! GEORGIA TECH BLOCKS IT! (Pause) The Jackets pick it up back at the 25 and (excitement growing) Austin is returning it down the left sideline…
Bedford: Oh, my goodness!
Gaudin: Past the 50 …
Bedford: He’s got blockers!
Gaudin: Past the 30, inside the 20, inside the 10 …
Bedford: YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!
Gaudin: AND HE SCORES!!!
Gaudin: HE SCORES!!! LANCE AUSTIN PICKED UP THE BLOCKED KICK AND RETURNED IT ALL THE WAY TO THE HOUSE ON THE NORTH END ZONE!!! WE’VE HAD THE MIRACLE ON NORTH AVENUE, THIS IS THE MIRACLE ON TECHWOOD DRIVE!!!
Bedford: And the students are flooding the field – what an ending!!!
